Disco Marine is a privately owned family business based in Grafton on the Clarence River of Northern New South Wales. It specialises in the sales and service of boats, and boating accessories and prides itself on being a “one stop shop” for the boating enthusiast. Disco Marine dominates the market share in the Clarence region possessing quality brands and strong customer loyalty.

Disco Marine prides itself on its happy, skilled and knowledgeable staff and its commitment to its customers is evident in many areas. Staff are continually undergoing training programs to ensure their knowledge is up to date and meeting the needs of their customers. In 2005, Disco Marine was awarded the Stacer National Customer Service Excellence Award in recognition of the company’s commitment to Customer Service.

History

Disco Marine was established in February, 1987 by husband and wife, Neil and Judy Disson. Neil, or “Disco” as he is universally known, managed a marine dealership in Lismore for 10 years before buying out Ron Skinner Marine in South Grafton and Disco Marine was born.

Disco Marine traded at those South Grafton premises until January 2006 when it moved into more modern facilities at its current Grafton location. Mercury Marine has been a partner since the start supplying Mercury Outboards, number one in the world of marine propulsion. The relationship with Telwater/Stacer dates back to 1990 with Stacer being a dominant force in the aluminium boat market since 1972.

The Future

Disco Marine is committed to the Clarence region continuing to support many local sporting and community organisations. It aims to forge positive, long term relationships with its customers by further improving service, providing innovative and reliable products and continually developing ways to improve and enjoy the boating experience.

Neil “Disco” Disson Dealer Principal / Service Manager Service: Started Disco Marine in 1987 Profile: 30 years in the marine industry means Disco’s experience is second to none. Whether it be cruising, skiing, fishing or racing, Disco has done it all.

Judy Disson Company Secretary / Administration Service: Started Disco Marine in 1987 Profile: Judy is a well-known local identity being involved in many community activities. Judy loves a ski and a fish and spending the night on the water in their half-cabin.   Jason Disson Director of Sales & Marketing Service: Started with Disco Marine in July 2000 Profile: Jason was born into boating, a passion which is in his veins. He is a keen skier and fisherman and has passed on his enthusiasm to his wife and children.

Bill Nicholas Technician Service: Started with Disco Marine in September 2006 Profile:Bill’s vast experience in the automotive industry has given him a great grounding for his new career as a marine technician. A proud dad, Bill enjoys spending weekends in the shed with his son.

Tim Geary Apprentice Service: Started with Disco Marine in October 2007 Profile:Tim is an enthusiastic and energetic young man looking forward to a long career with Disco Marine. Tim is an avid skateboarder and enjoys getting out and throwing a line in the water.
